ABOUT

Big Horizon are five musicians who, between them, have played at Wembley Stadium, the Grammy Awards, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and Buckingham Palace.

All five were touring members of Jeff Lynne's ELO and between them they have also worked with Take That, Yes, 10cc, Annie Lennox, Steve Hackett, and Adele.

But Big Horizon isn't a side project. It's the music these five have been waiting to make for themselves.

Inspired by the golden era of American songwriting — Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers, classic West Coast harmony — the band makes big, melodic rock with real emotional weight. Songs rooted in character and story, built on decades of musical instinct and live performance experience.

Their debut album In The Beginning was released in November 2024. They are currently at work on new music.

IAIN HORNAL

VOCALS, GUITAR

Iain Hornal is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose voice and instinct for melody have placed him at the heart of some of rock's most enduring stories. With three critically acclaimed solo albums to his name, he has built a reputation as a consummate artist — equally at home crafting intimate, hook-driven songs as he is commanding arenas.

A long-standing touring member of both Jeff Lynne's ELO and 10cc, Iain has spent years breathing life into some of the most beloved catalogues in British rock history. His touring credits also include Yes (ft. Anderson, Rabin & Wakeman), Take That, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and Paul Young — a breadth that speaks to his versatility as both a vocalist and performer.

It's that same versatility, combined with a genuine songwriter's ear, that he brings to Big Horizon.

MIKE STEVENS

KEYBOARDS, SAX, GUITAR, VOCALS

Mike Stevens is one of the UK's most decorated musical directors. Best known as Jeff Lynne's ELO's MD, he has shaped some of the biggest live shows in British pop history. His CV includes the Diamond Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace — directing a house band and 56-piece orchestra in front of a global audience — as well as serving as Musical Director for Take That (since 1993), Annie Lennox (whose Grammy-nominated album Nostalgia he co-produced), and artists including Will Young, Mika, and the Sugababes. He studied at the Birmingham School of Music, where he later became an Honorary Fellow.

LEE POMEROY

BASS

Lee Pomeroy is one of the UK's most in-demand bassists. He has been the touring bass player for Jeff Lynne's ELO since 2014, appearing on both the Live at Hyde Park and Wembley or Bust live recordings. He joined Yes (ft Anderson, Rabin & Wakeman) in 2016 at Rick Wakeman's personal recommendation — Wakeman has described him as one of the three greatest bassists he's ever played with, alongside Chris Squire and John Entwistle. He has also toured with Take That, Steve Hackett, and Gary Barlow. He plays bass upside down as a left-hander, and has become famous for his faithful yet electrifying interpretation of Chris Squire's iconic parts.

DONAVAN HEPBURN

DRUMS

Donavan Hepburn is widely regarded as one of the UK's finest session drummers. A Birmingham native, he has been the touring drummer for Take That since 2006 and for Jeff Lynne's ELO since 2013, including the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2017 and the Diamond Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace. His session credits include Adele (her debut 19 campaign), Robbie Williams, Alesha Dixon, Sam Smith, and Olly Murs.

JO WEBB

Guitar, Keyboards, Vocals

Jo Webb is a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer whose career spans major venues and diverse musical worlds. A touring member of Jeff Lynne's ELO and Take That — playing Wembley Stadium and the Royal Albert Hall — he is equally at home in the studio, where he has co-produced and mixed multiple albums including several with Iain Hornal. His production work draws on a deep understanding of melody, arrangement, and sonics, blending live performance instincts with a meticulous ear for detail.
